Sabrangan is not the name of one character but a term for the kings, knights and ministers from overseas kingdoms (sabrang) in wayang purwa stories. They usually appear as opponents of the knights, often because they want to win a princess or seize a kingdom.

Sabrangan puppets are usually strongly built, with a wide stance, a raised head and staring eyes. Because their look is generic, the dalang can play one sabrangan puppet as different characters, as the story needs.
